Oprah’s Great Advice on Relationships

I am a great fan of Oprah. I think she really tries to make our lives better. My sense is that she treats life head on and that she wants us to do the same, regardless of what we’re going through.

What’s the point? Well, if you haven’t checked out her site lately, take a moment and go to Oprah’s section on relationships, where you will find all sorts of topics on love, divorce and dating. I like her approach: she doesn’t’ shy away from the tough stuff, including divorce and breakups. You’ll also find plenty of “experts” such as Dr. Phil who take on difficult subject matters.

I think sometimes we’re still ashamed of admitting we couldn’t make a marriage or relationship work. I think back on my relationships and thank god I didn’t push for some of them to make it, although at the time I thought, “this is the one.”

Then there have been others that I had wished I had worked harder to keep. I simply didn’t have the tools at the time. And that’s the great thing about Oprah: she gives you some tools, just in case you forgot they were in your toolbox.

Keep moving forward and try not to be so ashamed about divorce. Having said that, I hope to hear from about relationships how you are walking the path ….

Five Dollars per Hour Therapy and Advice!

When I think back on the time or money I invested in my sanity and growth as a human being, there are a handful of turning points that I remember. But getting there wasn’t always easy. My attitude was I thought my life was under control.

I was wrong. My willingness to listen and accept help turned my life around. This brings me to our divorce conference this weekend in Tempe Arizona. If you are in the area go! There’s going to be dozens of experts who specialize in all aspects of divorce and relationships.

We figured it will cost you about five dollars per hour if you attend the two-day conference and it will likely save you lots of money down the road. This conference isn’t only about dealing with the carnage of divorce – it’s also about prevention and making your marriage and relationships better.

This may sound like a big advertising push, which I hate to do in my blogging and writing. But I am convinced; it’s worth checking out. If you don’t like the “vibe” you can leave. But you’ll never know until you walk through that door. It may change your life!

I didn’t walk through those fellowship doors many years ago. I was actually dragged. Worked for me. While we won’t be dragging you, do drag a friend so you don’t have to go alone. You don’t have to be going through a divorce to learn something at this conference.

I’ll be blogging about the event so I would like to hear from you while you are there. And I keep telling people this — you don’t have to tell me your real name. Make one up.

So take that risk. See you there!
